Just a quick update. I now have a sample table of contents and sample chapter (#1) online:

I hope to maybe include an additional chapter as well. Chapter one is incredibly basic and shows how the book is geared towards the true programming / computational media beginner. Some more advanced topics are explored later in the book, as you can see in the TOC.
Questions, comments, etc., please let me know! As of now, the release date I'm told will be late August, which should be in time for fall courses.
One or two more announcements forthcoming when example code and exercise answer key go online.
